DOORS 6:30PM // KITCHEN OPEN // SHOW STARTS 8.30PM
A journeyman, storyteller, and troubadour at heart, Australia’s foremost bluesman Ash Grunwald has announced a new National Tour to promote his forthcoming record – studio sessions featuring all your favourites – curated from a career spanning twenty-years.
Ash Grunwald has inspired a generation to hit the road in an old beat-up Bedford to ‘surf by day jam by night’. Enshrined by Australian folklore, his live shows are known to rock the house yet touch the soul, serving a tsunami of dance, beats, roots, bass ‘n’ blues.
With six Australian Top-50 albums to his credit, alongside five ARIA and four AIR Award Nominations, two APRA Awards, and gong for Best International Act at the LA Music Critic Awards in 2014, Grunwald is cast in bronze among Australia’s most successful blues musicians. And throughout his career, Ash Grunwald has supported legends including James Brown, The Black Keys, Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd, and Keith Urban, among numerous others, and played sold out festivals across Europe, Japan, and North America.
In March 2022, Ash dropped his 11th studio album to date – Shout Into the Noise – which is widely regarded as his best record to date, on the back of his critically acclaimed and smash-hit collaboration with Josh Teskey, which was paradoxically entitled Push The Blues Away (2020).
This year, Grunwald consecrates his 10th appearance at Bluesfest with a new record in its honour. Recorded by Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Rage Against The machine), featuring Ian Peres (Wolfmother, Xavier Rudd, Bernhard Fanning) and the tropical ambassador of rhythm ‘n’ grove, Bobby Alu, the new LP is bound to cascade and coalesce throughout the course of 2023.
Having emerged from the studio, working with acclaimed LA-based producer Justin Stanley (Prince, Paul McCartney, Beck, Eric Clapton, Gary Clarke Jnr. et al.) on a reimagination of ‘Tell It Like It Is’, Ash has a plethora of projects in the pipeline, beginning with a new National Tour – Tell It Like It Is 2023.
